Membrane systems are applied to the substrate prior to the heating mat or cable, creating a continuous waterproof barrier protecting both the substrate and heating element from moisture ingress. The correct installation sequence, internal waterproofing first, then heating element, then tile adhesive and tiles, ensures both systems perform correctly.
